About 350 people from Toronto’s exploration, mining and financial community attended the annual oyster party sponsored jointly by explosives firm Orica Canada and the Toronto branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.
Among attendees at the 75th annual event were, in the the top photograph, Torben Jensen (left), manger of engineering for Breakwater Resources, and William Bawden, chairman of the University of Toronto’s Lassonde Geological and Mining Engineering Program.
In the bottom photo, James O’Reilly (from left), executive vice-president of Orica Canada, Patricia Dillon, of the Lassonde program, William Shaver, vice president of the mining services division, and Moira Smith, a geologist for Teck, model the aprons that have become a trademark of the soire.
