Miner killed at Gays River mine

A miner was killed recently at the Gays River lead-zinc mine in Nova Scotia. It is owned by Westminer Canada, a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Mining Corp. of Australia.

An official at the mine said the man was scaling at the back of stope when he was hit from loose rock from above. In most underground operations, stope walls are routinely scaled to remove hazardous “loose.”
