A 160-lb. bulk sample collected from a structure on Minefinders’ (VSE) Lista Negra property in Mexico’s Sonora state has yielded significant silver values.
The average grade of the sample was 8.6 oz. silver per ton whereas previous sampling at the same location, using a hammer percussion drill, yielded only 4.3 oz. The new results confirm the company’s suspicions that earlier sampling techniques were inadequate.
In addition, the company’s geologists have re-examined and reinterpreted the structure over a larger area and have concluded that the property contains three mineralized horizons. These appear to overlie each other and may extend over a strike length of about 5 miles.
The bulk sample was collected from the middle horizon, which is overlain by a low-grade zone. The lowest horizon, which had previously been only partially intersected in two drill holes, returned assays averaging 13.1 oz. silver. A small drill program totalling 600 to 1,000 metres is testing the mineralized zones, particularly the higher-grade, lower horizon.
