Results from a 2-hole diamond drilling program on International Micham’s (VSE) Disentis property in Switzerland have confirmed the presence of a wide gold zone.
Hole 91-1 intersected 246 ft. averaging 0.033 oz. gold per ton, including a 121 ft. interval grading 0.047 oz. gold. Hole 91-2 intersected 302 ft. grading 0.021 oz., including 0.038 oz. over 85 ft.
Collared at the same site but drilled on angles of 45 degrees and 85 degrees respectively, the holes totalled 1,300 ft. in length.
Micham President David Bell, tied up in meetings, could not be reached for comment.
Micham is following up the discovery of the Val Plattas gold showing in 1987. Grab and channel samples taken from the exposed showing averaged 0.053 oz. across its 656-ft. width.
The mineralization, associated with a sericite schist dipping at about 45-50 degrees south, appears to be continuous and uniform.
Prospecting and mapping have traced the zone along a strike length of over three miles.
Micham has been exploring for gold in Switzerland for the past five years. Under a joint venture with Narex International Exploration, the Toronto-based company has an 80% interest in an exploration permit covering 46 square miles within the commune of Medel and about three miles south of Disentis. The permit does not include exploitation rights.
Between 1986 and 1988, Micham spent $1.3 million in the Disentis area. Numerous discontinuous gold-bearing sulphide showings were explored along a 12-mile strike length running from the village of Sedrun in the west to Trun in the east.
Mineral exploration in the Anterior Rhine region can be traced back to the Middle Ages. Mining has focused mainly on placer deposits, with some lode gold operations.
