Metanor Resources’ Barry deposit continues to grow

Expansion drilling at the Barry open-pit mine in Quebec continues to extend mineralized zones, Metanor Resources (MTO-V) says. The pit is open in all directions and a resource estimate is under way.

Metanor, which sends ore from the Barry pit to its Bachelor Lake mill for processing, said gold intersections were found close to surface and indicate the lateral continuity of the Center Zone at shallow depth and its gold bearing content between the West Zone and Zone 43.

The Barry gold deposit is in the Urban-Barry greenstone belt, about 65 km southeast of the Bachelor Lake mine complex.

Drill highlights include Hole MB-09-410, which returned mineralization in the Center Zone between 2.5 metres and 15.2 metres along the drill hole, cutting 5.53 grams gold per tonne over 12 metres, including an intersection of 13.31 grams over 5.2 metres.

Hole MB-09-412 returned between 6.5 metres and 16.4 metres along the drill hole, an intersection of 3.53 grams gold over 9.9 metres, including 10.2 grams gold over 3.2 metres.

Hole MB 09-459 intersected 3 grams gold over 12.6 metres at a vertical depth of about 30 metres, while MB-09-428 returned 3.75 grams gold over 18 metres at a vertical depth of 45 metres.

The results indicate lateral continuity with deep gold-bearing zones and also confirm the potential for significant additional resources in all of Barry’s gold bearing zones, the company maintains.

The new mineralized zone is about 80 meters south of the Main Zone and extends over 500 meters.

Results obtained to date suggest the potential of new mineralized zones in the deformation corridor crossing the Barry property. True widths are roughly 85% to 90% of the core length obtained in the diamond drill holes.

In early September, Metanor reported that hole 409 at Barry returned 7.8 metres (from surface) of 7.71 grams gold per tonne in the Center zone, which connects the West zone to Zone 43. Just 10 metres west, hole 370, an earlier hole, cut 27 metres of 4.86 grams gold from 43 metres depth.

At press-time Metanor was trading at 70¢ a share. The company has a 52-week trading high of 89¢ and a low of 26¢.
