Results are in from the six most recent drill holes at the Cerro San Pedro gold-silver deposit near San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
Including results of five holes drilled earlier this year, owner Metallica Resources (TSE) has thus far encountered more than 1,350 metres of mineralized porphyry from 11 holes. The average grade is reported to be 0.94 gram gold, 25 grams silver per tonne, while the grades of the best intervals range from 0.56 to 6.66 grams gold and 9.2 to 229.6 grams silver.
The central Mendez zone measures 450 metres in strike length and 400 metres in width, averaging more than 120 metres in true thickness. These dimensions do not, however, include mineralized, limestone- hosted bodies in the hangingwall of the porphyry.
Fifteen holes have yet to be drilled in the current reverse-circulation program. Extensions of the Mendez zone to the west, north and south are all targeted for additional drilling. Also, 10 bulk metallurgical samples taken from surface and underground are being processed. Each sample will have bottle roll tests, and three composites will be made for column leach testing.
