The Sammi Group of Korea has acquired Atlas Specialty Steels, Atlas Stainless Steels and AL Tech Specialty Steel Corp. from Rio Algom. Atlas Specialty of Welland, Ont., makes specialty steel products; Atlas Stainless of Tracy, Que., turns out flat rolled stainless steel products; and AL Tech manufactures specialty steel long products in New York state.
Top producer-nation in 1988 of iron ore, iron ore concentrates and iron ore agglomerates was the Soviet Union, preliminary figures released by the American Iron Ore Association indicate. Second was Brazil, followed by China and Australia.
