A drilling program at the Launay gold property in northwestern Quebec continues to investigate at depth, Messeguay Mines reports.
The property is located about 25 miles northeast of Rouyn-Noranda and covers parts of Launay, Privat and Guyenne twps. Gold mineralization on the property was discovered in the 1930s.
The main zone on the property was stripped and mapped in detail this year. Also, a section of the north-south zone underwent humus testings.
The company reports quartz veins on the main zone reached widths of up to 15 ft but intersections in some soundings indicated no potentially economic values.
Part of the north-south structure was systematically drilled every 100 ft, and at a vertical depth of up to 350-400 ft. Most of the holes intersected the shear zone with widths varying from 10-15 ft on up to 100 ft. The majority of the holes cut values ranging from 0.05 oz gold per ton to 0.09 oz across widths varying from 5 ft to 25 ft.
Among the better values were 0.23 oz on 9.2 ft from hole ML-87- 15, 0.22 oz on 4.8 ft from hole ML-87-21, 0.18 oz on 4.8 ft from hole ML-87-40 and 0.12 oz on 4.5 ft from hole ML-87-51.
Hole ML-87-63 crossed the auriferous structure at a vertical depth of 850 ft, assaying 0.22 oz on 8.8 ft. The company reports a second drill is in progress to investigate the zone at the same depth but 500 ft further north.
Parts of the property underwent drilling in 1986.
