Medinah gets mixed results in Chile

Follow-up drilling on a hot hole at the Alto de Lipangue gold-copper property in central Chile has returned mixed results for Medinah Mining (MDHM-O).

Hole 8, drilled in late December 1999, intersected 98 metres of mineralization in a breccia pipe grading 0.27% copper plus 2.3 grams gold and 16.7 grams silver per tonne. Included in the interval were 35 metres of 0.65% copper, 6 grams gold and 36.1 grams silver. The company stepped out 50 metres to the west and intersected the breccia pipe in hole 9 at a depth of 168 metres, deeper than expected. This second interval averaged 0.81% copper, 5.9 grams gold and 23.3 grams silver over 6 metres.

Medinah collared the next hole 50 metres to the north, which was also 50 metres west of the discovery hole, but failed to intersect the breccia unit.

Hole 11, drilled 50 metres south of hole 9, intersected the breccia from 194 metres to 251 metres. The average value from a 94-metre interval (from 193 to 287 metres) ran less than 1 gram gold, though a 2-metre interval (from 248 to 250 metres) averaged 0.44% copper, 1.5 grams gold and 8.4 grams silver.

In all, the drilling traced the breccia to depth, though deeper than expected, and defined the western margins of the pipe. Mineralization remains open at depth and to the east and southeast. Future drilling, stepping out at 50-metre intervals, will concentrate on those directions.
