Drilling on the Meadowbank property, north of Baker Lake,
N.W.T., is returning gold values for 60-40 partners Cumberland Resources (VSE) and Comaplex Resources (TSE).
The new results include values of up to 2.94 oz. per ton over 9.8 ft. in hole 95-66.
The partners are testing three targets along the 3-mile-long Third Portage gold trend, and assays have been received from seven widely spaced holes on the Goose Island zone.
Drilling on Goose Island covers a strike length of 900 ft. and a vertical depth of 410 ft., with the target remaining open in all directions. The gold mineralization, which dips steeply to the west, is associated with the contact between an iron formation and volcanic rocks.
Drilling is now being carried out on the SGI and Y targets, which are within the same iron formation horizon as the Goose Island zone and have the same geophysical signatures.
Assay results from this year’s program, as well as previously released results from drilling in 1991, are as follows: Hole LocationAzimuthDipIntervalWidthGold
