McGill pair wins GAC’s award

Two members of the department of geological sciences at McGill University in Montreal were selected as the 1991 winners of the Julian Boldy award.

The paper, by Timothy Barrett and Sergio Cattalani titled “Lithostratigraphy and alteration using immobile elements: the Ansil and Aldermac VMS deposits, Noranda, Que.,” was one of a series presented by colleagues and students of Prof. W.H. MacLean at the annual meeting of the Geological Association of Canada (GAC) in Toronto earlier this year. The Julian Boldy award was established by GAC’s mineral deposits division in 1989 with the financial support of Placer Dome Inc. in honor of one of the company’s former exploration managers.

Judging criteria for the award stress contributions to ore deposits models.
