McEwan to discuss Challenge

Robert McEwan, president of Goldcorp, will be the guest speaker at a noon luncheon of the Toronto branch of the CIM, scheduled for May 18 at the Ontario Club.

The presentation will focus on the “Goldcorp Challenge,” described as the world’s first exploration initiative on the world wide web. The goal is to seek exploration ideas and proposals for a program to find “the next six million ounces of high-grade gold” at the Red Lake underground mine in northern Ontario.

Goldcorp has invited everyone to visit its web site (http://www.goldcorp.com) and make use of the historical geological database and mine modelling software to come up with an exploration proposal. The incentive is 28 cash prizes totalling US$500,000, to be awarded by a panel of judges.

To reserve tickets for this event, contact Denise Stephenson at (905) 888-1164 or Jackie Coulter at (416) 869-7213.
