McChip/Noranda venture showed good results

Under the terms of the joint venture agreement between McChip Resources and Noranda Exploration, a successful exploration program costing approximately $400,000 was carried out during the latter part of 1987 in the vicinity of the Porcupine-Destor fault zone on 72 claims (2,880 acres) located about 20 miles east of Timmins, Ont.

Four diamond drill holes totalling 1,476 m were completed in Macklem Twp. This exploration extended an area of known gold mineralization both to depth and along strike in a felsic porphyry. The best intersection assayed 11.84 oz gold per ton over 0.2 m or, cutting to 1.0 oz, 0.11 oz over 12.79 ft. The best intersections in two other holes were 0.107 oz over 3.28 m and 0.103 oz over 2 m.

Five holes totalling 1,478 m were put down in Stock Twp. Two holes in previously unexplored ground obtained visible gold intersections which, previously reported, assayed 1.21 oz over 0.24 m and 1.81 oz over 0.5 m.

Additional exploration consisting mainly of follow-up diamond drilling and costing $300,000 has been recommended for 1988 to test or extend several favorable distinct geological environments.
