Toronto-based junior Queenston Mining (QMI-T) and partner Franco-Nevada Mining (FN-T) are pleased with results from the three latest holes drilled into the “green carbonate” zone at their McBean gold project near Kirkland Lake, Ont.
Within the green carbonate zone, the partners have identified three gold-Mineralized areas. These vary in thickness from 5 to 50 ft. and contain free gold associated with pyritic sections, felsite-Albitite dykes as well as quartz veins and stockworks.
The zone remains open and is being tested along plunge to the east using two drill rigs. So far, five of a planned 40 holes have been drilled.
The best results from the most recent drilling include: 3.3 ft. (from 1,742 to 1,745 ft.) grading 0.28 oz. gold per ton (9.6 grams per tonne) in hole 21; and 14.7 ft. (from 1,086 to 1,100 ft.) of 0.17 oz. (5.83 grams) in hole 23.
Below 1,000 ft., the green carbonate zone is estimated to contain 1.1 million tons grading 0.22 oz. gold (7.54 grams).
Combined with the resource outlined above the 1,000-ft. depth, the McBean deposit is estimated to contain 2.9 million tons grading 0.17 oz. gold (5.83 grams).
Meanwhile, drilling is resuming at the Anoki deposit, 4,500 ft. west of McBean.
