The dewatering process at the Siscoe project in northwestern Quebec, to be completed this summer, will open the shaft for exploration to 2,539 ft, Maufort Resources (ME) reports.
Maufort’s joint venture partners in the project are Cambior Inc. (TSE) and Demontigny Inc. To complete the dewatering, a 120-ft headframe was installed as well as a double drum hoist.
At the Demontigny project, or Siscoe Extension, Maufort reports drilling representing 90,000 ft has been undertaken and 93,000 tons ore grading 0.16 oz gold per ton defined. The deposit is open at depth. The old mine has been dewatered and an underground drilling campaign is planned. Maufort’s project partner is Demontigny.
Another property, Tiblemont, underwent a drilling program last year of 81 holes representing 44,735 ft. Six gold-bearing zones have been identified on the property. An 8-ton bulk sample taken from near the promising Blast zone averaged 0.1 oz. Construction of a ramp and extraction of a bulk sample from the Blast zone itself are planned.
Meanwhile, earlier this year Maufort completed a public offering in which company shares were exchanged for all of the shares of La Societe en Commandite Maufort 1987. President Maurice Fortin reports the company’s assets are now worth more than $20 million. Maufort issued about seven million common shares of its capital stock in the deal.
