Maude Lake finds gold

Maude Lake Exploration (MAU-M) has drilled several gold-bearing intersections during a 3,741-metre program recently completed at the Comtois prospect, 15 km west of Lebel-sur-Quvillon, Que.

The junior has defined two mineralized zones, named A and B, to a depth of 400 metres within the Osborne gold-bearing zone, which is 100 metres wide and 1.5 km long.

The best result came from hole 54, which returned 16.5 true-width metres (from 65 metres) in zone A grading 6.1 grams gold per tonne, including 9.4 metres of 9.8 grams gold.

Other highlights from the recent program include: 1.7 metres of 8.5 grams gold in zone A and 2.5 metres of 5.8 grams gold in zone B in hole 43; 1.1 metres of 3.1 grams gold (zone A) and 3.5 metres of 2 grams gold (zone B) in hole 44; and 2.5 metres of 5.2 grams gold (zone A) in hole 47.

Maude Lake can earn a half-interest in the 4.8-sq.-km property from Cameco (CCO-T).

Drilling by Cameco in the mid-1990s found that sulphide-rich gold mineralization in the Osborne zone occurs in sericitized and biotized felsic-volcanic rock.
