An oxidized gold resource in excess of 20 million tonnes grading 1.3 grams gold per tonne has been established at the San Martin concession in central Honduras.
The announcement follows a first phase of drilling comprising 73 reverse-circulation holes in the Sinter hot springs zone.
San Martin is a joint venture held by Mar-West Resources (MSR-V) and Curion Ventures (cuv-v), with 80% and 20% interests, respectively.
The partners released assay results for the final nine holes of the program.
Holes 65, 66 and 67 were drilled in the central-western portion of the dome-like hill, returning 24.4 metres of 0.92 gram gold in hole 65, 41.1 metres of 2.5 grams in hole 66 and 12.2 metres grading 1.21 grams in hole 67.
Hole 69 tested a structurally controlled zone of stronger mineralization in the central-eastern area, cutting 33.5 metres of 1.48 grams.
In the southern portion, hole 68 intersected a 6.1-metre interval averaging 0.53 gram gold.
The final four holes were collared 150 metres south of previous drilling and spaced 100 metres apart in an east-west trend.
Hole 70 intersected 9.1 metres grading 0.88 gram. Stepping out to the east, hole 71 cut 19.8 metres of 0.84 gram, hole 72 hit 15.2 metres of 0.97 gram and hole 73 pulled 7.6 metres grading 0.85 gram.
Mar-West reports that the near-surface, blanket-like zone remains open to the west, south and east.
On the neighboring Palo Ralo dome, 1.7 km to the west, a widely spaced 6-hole drill program intersected pervasive silicification and sub-economic gold grades to depths much greater than those encountered on the Sinter dome. The six holes averaged 0.31 gram over 75 metres, and further drilling is planned.
Meanwhile, a property-wide reconnaissance exploration program of mapping, sampling, prospecting and geophysics is under way in preparation for an upcoming second stage of drilling.
