Manson Creek shares surge on new gossans in Yukon

Shares of  Manson Creek Resources (MCK-V) surged 185.7% on news it had discovered three new natural spring gossans on its Tell property immediately south of Atac Resources‘ (ATC-V) Rau claims in the Yukon.

About 15.5 million shares traded hands on Monday with the stock shooting up from 7¢ to 20¢.

At presstime in Toronto Manson Creek’s shares were trading at 17¢ within a 52-week range of 4.5¢ and 36¢ per share. The junior has about 75.3 million shares outstanding.

The company said its geologists discovered “three new, well-developed and active natural spring gossans” while prospecting in the area of the Tell natural spring gossan and vegetation zone. The new discoveries extend more than 600 metres, roughly east-west, from the large Tell zone and each of the gossans contains numerous active spring vents, the junior explorer reported in a press release.

Manson Creek says the discoveries are significant given “the number of successful drill discoveries made on similar gossans in the region.” The strike of the zones “possibly delineates a normal fault along the front of the mountain range that has brought the mineralized source of the natural spring gossans closer to the present day surface,” the press release stated.

Each gossan also “bears similarities to the Ocelot mineralized occurrence recently announced by Atac Resources,” the company stated.

“The Ocelot discovery was made by targeting an undrilled natural spring surface gossan with associated strongly anomalous zinc and lead sample results,” the company said. “Like the Ocelet zone, the four Tell property gossans are located near regional carbonate units within structurally complex geology in and proximal to the Rackla gold belt.”

Manson Creek’s 2,000-hectare Tell property is about 140 km east of Mayo and contiguous the Rau claims of Atac as well as the Goz claims of Strategic Metals (SMD-V).

“Many of the recent gold and silver discoveries in the region have been made in areas of prominent known, but not drill-tested, gossan zones that contain anomalous zinc, lead and pathfinder elements,” the company explains.

In addition, the Tell gossan extends over 300 metres and is cored by a 75-metre by 240-metre zone hosting high zinc values in soil samples ranging from 10,000 to 49,600 parts per million zinc along with significant lead values, the company said.
