Manhattan looks to outline tonnage at Candamena

A recent drilling program carried out by Manhattan Minerals (MAN-T) is outlining a bulk-tonnage, gold-silver deposit at the Candamena property in Chihuahua state, Mexico.

The Candamena property is 25 km southeast of the company’s producing Moris open-pit, heap-leach gold mine.

Manhattan is testing a broad, low-level gold anomaly (in excess of 100 parts per billion) measuring 2,500 by 2,100 ft., with a stratigraphic thickness of 600 ft. The anomaly covers an alteration zone of quartz alunite hosted in rhyolite pyroclastic rocks.

Eight widely spaced holes tested the northern edge of the zone at the base of the anomaly’s surface expression. Holes 96-1 and 96-2 were collared from the same site. Angled at minus 45 to the southwest, hole 96-1 intersected 422 ft. from surface grading 0.025 oz. gold and 0.65 oz. silver per ton, including a 317-ft.-long oxidized interval grading 0.027 oz. gold and 0.83 oz. silver.

Hole 96-2 was angled to the northwest at minus 60. Starting from surface, that hole intersected 185 ft. of oxidized material grading 0.02 oz. gold and 0.42 oz. silver.

Stepping out 1,400 ft. to the east of the first two holes, hole 96-3 was angled at minus 45 to the southeast. That hole returned, form surface, 397 ft. grading 0.024 oz. gold and 1.26 oz. silver, including a 100-ft.-long oxidized interval grading 0.031 oz. gold and 2.34 oz. silver.

Holes 96-4, 96-5 and 96-8 tested areas of lesser silicification and intersected only anomalous gold and silver values.

Hole 96-6, collared 900 ft. east of holes 96-1 and 96-2 and angled at minus 60 to the southeast, intersected, from surface, 172 ft. grading 0.011 oz.

gold and 0.42 oz. silver.

Hole 96-7 was abandoned in highly oxidized rock at a depth of 80 ft. owing to poor core recovery.

Drilling on the northern edge of the anomaly continues, and Manhattan expects to have an additional 4,000 to 5,000 ft. completed before it stops for the holiday.

A high-priority target to be tested in the new year lies beneath a road cut zone. That target averaged 0.06 oz. gold over 350 ft.

The primary drill targets at Candamena are 2,000 ft. south and 600 ft. higher than current drill holes.

Road construction to the sites will be completed in early January, at which time a second rig will be added to test depths exceeding 1,000 ft.
