He joined Nerco Exploration as a geologist in 1976, holding numerous positions including manager of exploration, chief geologist and vice- president. He was appointed vice-president and general manager of the Nerco Con Mine Ltd. in August, 1988. According to Nauman, “because only a portion of this property has been explored, it is highly probable that the Con mine, which turns out about 80,000oz of gold annually, will be a strong producer well into the 21st century. The company is now undertaking an aggressive expansion and renovation program to increase output and reduce unit costs.
“The mine is undergoing a transition from an old-line substantially unimproved facility to a modern competitive mining operation,” he says, adding that “the infrastructure is now in place at the Con to become a low-cost competitive producer on a long- term basis.”
