Major General hits sulphides at Sarah Lake

Major General Resources (MGH) has intersected two zones of semi-massive sulphides at its Sarah Lake property in Labrador. The total thickness of the two zones is 2.2 metres.

Hole 21 intersected 1.7 metres of semi-massive sulphides at the base of an olivine gabbro and at a down-hole depth of 128.2 metres. Farther down-hole, at a depth of 132.6 metres, the drill encountered a 0.5-metre zone of semi-massive sulphides.

Hole 120, drilled 650 metres to the west, pierced a narrow, 0.5-metre interval of heavily disseminated sulphides at the base of the olivine gabbro.

Both holes were drilled in the south-central portion of the property. The drills targeted conductive zones that were defined by pulse-electromagnetic (PEM) surveys.

All PEM and gravity geophysical surveys have been completed, though full results are not yet received. Drilling will resume once the geophysical data have been interpreted and targets have been defined.

Major General holds a 40% interest in the property, with the remainder split evenly between Donner Minerals (DML-V) and Teck (TEK-T).

In related news, NDT Ventures (NDT-V) says a decision regarding further drilling on its Project 79 property at South Voisey’s Bay will be made once final interpretations of PEM surveys are made.

NDT, Donner and two other partners, Oromin Exploration (OME-V) and Layfield Resources (LAY-V), have decided to drill three widely spaced holes on Project 78 (50% Donner, 25% NDT and 25% Oromin) and Project 77 (50% Donner, 25% NDT and 25% Layfield). The properties are all 18 km east of Project 79. The holes will test favorable gabbro targets adjacent to the boundary between the Nain and Churchill geological provinces.
