Drilling is under way on three of Major General Resources’ (TSE) wholly owned properties near Pickle Lake, Ont. With a $300,000 budget in hand, Major General plans to test six separate targets before the end of January.
At the northern end of the Meen Lake property, 80 km west of Pickle Lake, Major General is testing the Bear Head structure, which controls gold mineralization at the Golden Patricia mine. The company is planning to drill three holes, or 500 metres, to test the trends’ 3-km strike length.
At the southern end of Meen Lake, the company will probe magnetic anomalies and conductors with a 4-hole program.
About 10 km south of Golden Patricia, Major General has identified drilling targets in iron formation and altered, sheared volcanics on the McVean Lake property. A total of 700 metres will be drilled in three holes on the property.
Northeast of Pickle Lake at the First Loon Lake property, two holes are testing a shear zone where it intersects an iron formation. Previous intersections in the unaltered portion of the iron formation intersected values of 2.6 grams gold per tonne over 4.6 metres and 2.3 grams over 6.4 metres.
