MacDonald exec takes a loss

Recent insider trading transactions reported by the Ontario Securities Commission include the following:

n Aur Resources (AUR-T) — Jorge Carey, director, bought 44,500 shares indirectly at US$2.15 or US$2.16 each to hold that many shares indirectly.

n Avalon Ventures (AVL-V) — Donald Bubar, director, bought 20,000 shares at 12 to hold just under 1.08 million shares; and Robert Andersen, officer, bought 27,500 shares at 10-18 to hold 350,000 shares.

n Diamond Fields International (DFI-T) — Francis Waldron, director, bought 29,000 shares at 34 or 35 to hold 361,704 shares.

n Etruscan Resources (EET-T) — Gerald McConnell, director, bought 132,800 shares at 92-$1.60 to hold 983,271 shares, plus 85,434 shares indirectly.

n Gold Summit Mines (GST-V) — Anthony Roodenburg, director, bought 64,000 shares at 12 or 16 to hold just under 1.23 million shares.

n Golden Queen Mining (GQM-T) — Edward Thompson, director, sold 21,500 shares at 80 to hold 85,000 shares.

n Lakota Resources (YLA-V) — George Breuler, director, bought 48,900 shares at $2.10-2.50 to hold over 1.72 million shares; John Tindale, director, exercised 10,000 options at 30 and sold 3,100 shares at $2.30-2.55 to hold 9,900 options and an unspecified number of shares; and Stanley Robinson, director, sold 10,000 shares at $2.17 to hold none.

n LionOre Mining International (LIM-T) — Gilbert Playford, director, bought 150,000 shares at US$2.29-2.36 to hold more than 4.63 million shares; Marie Inkster, officer, bought 789 shares indirectly and was granted 15,000 options that can be exercised at $3.96 apiece to hold 794 shares and 15,000 options; and Douglas Coate, director, sold 30,000 shares indirectly at $4.55 or $4.65 to hold 80,000 shares indirectly.

n MacDonald Mines Exploration (MMP.A-V) — Frank Smeenk, director and owner of more than 10% of the company, exercised 1 million options at 10 and sold the resulting shares at 5 to hold more than 2.2 million shares and an unspecified number of options.

n Northgate Exploration (NGX-T) — Trilon Bancorp, owner of more than 10%, bought 25,000 shares at $1.47 to hold 25,000 shares.

n Queenston Mining (QMI-T) — Leonard Cunningham, director, exercised 50,000 options at 32 and sold the resulting shares at 83-94 to hold 165,000 shares and an unspecified number of options.

n River Gold Mines (RIV-T) — Paul Cregheur, officer, exercised 10,000 options at $1.50 and sold the resulting shares at $2.75 or $3 to hold an unspecified number of options and no shares.

n Rhonda (RDM-V) — Judith Stoeterau, officer, bought 50,000 shares directly at 53 and 65,000 shares privately at 25, and sold 64,000 shares at 24-27 and let expire 50,000 warrants priced at 45 to hold 469,500 shares and 200,000 warrants.

n Rio Narcea Gold Mines (RNG-T) — David Beckman, owner of more than 10%, sold 5.5 million shares at $1.55 to hold in excess of 7.13 million shares.

n St. Jude Resources (SJD-V) — Michael Terrell, director, bought 23,000 shares at 65-80 and more than 5.2 million shares indirectly and privately at 21 to hold in excess of 6.1 million shares in all.

n Twin Mining (TWG-T) — James Gray, director, bought 39,500 shares at 36-40 to hold more than 2.38 million shares.

n Weda Bay Minerals (WDA-T) — Ronald Garvey, director, bought 30,000 shares at 15 to hold 215,000 shares.
