Joint-venture partners Greater Lenora Resources (GEN-T) and Freewest Resources Canada (FWR-T) are carrying out a geophysical program on the Bylund property to help define winter drill targets.
The 50-50 partners recently carried out a stripping and sampling program at the property, situated in the Matawin district, near Thunder Bay, Ont.
Several juniors and majors are reported to be exploring a major deformation zone in this district.
The Bylund property hosts a gold occurrence discovered and hand-trenched in 1934. The partners collected grab samples from the deformed alteration zone, with several of these assaying greater than 1 gram per tonne over a width of at least 19 metres. Values of 6.9, 14.6, 5.6 and 4.2 grams were obtained from the mineralized zone. The partners then found a new gold showing, assaying up to 2.2 grams, some 150 metres west of the structure. This new target was not drilled in the past.
