Resampling of cores at the KM61 copper-molybdenum prospect east of Armstrong, Ont., has shown there is a previously unsampled molybdenum zone on the property.
Linear Metals (LRM-V, LMTCF-O) assayed core that had been drilled in 2004 and 2005 by Falconbridge during a program to assess copper mineralization at the prospect. The resampling showed that the mineralized zones are 60 to 80 metres wider than had been shown by the earlier drilling.
One hole, K05-06, which had previously returned 61.2 metres grading 0.19% copper and 0.076% molybdenum, returned 143.2 metres grading 0.14% copper and 0.068% molybdenum, plus 6.1 grams silver per tonne, on resampling. A second hole, K05-07, which had returned 128.8 metres grading 0.12% copper and 0.058% molybdenum, is now known to have intersected 193.6 metres at average grades of 0.11% copper, 0.052% molybdenum and 7.1 grams silver per tonne.
The mineralization is hosted in a swarm of quartz-monzonite porphyry dykes that intrude mafic volcanic rocks. The mineralization is in quartz veins and disseminations in the porphyry and in the wall rocks. Previous work traced the mineralization along a 900-metre strike length.
