Mining equipment supplier Liebherr Mining Equipment has sent two Ultra Class trucks capable of carrying 400 tonnes to haul iron ore in Brazil’s Para state.
The Ultra Class T 282 B trucks require a team of 14 professionals to operate but will ultimately improve productivity at the unidentified project.
The diesel-electric A/C drive trucks with an MTU/DDC 20V4000 engine capable of 2,722 kW/3,650 hp are based on the original T 282 model which became operational in 1999. The latest model was put into operation in Brazil last September.
In addition to the Ultra Class, Liebherr has also included an electrical version of its R 9250 Electrical Hydraulic Excavator and Shovel.
The new model will be ideal for mines with access to low cost electrical supply and have lower operating costs when compared to diesel powered units.
The first units have already been delivered to Russia.
