Lew Parres scholarship

A scholarship fund has been established in memory of Lew Parres (1915-2004), a consulting geologist and entrepreneur who spent 75 years in mining, mostly in Manitoba.

Funds collected will be directed to a student enrolled in geology at a Canadian University.

Memorial donations should be sent to Lew Parres Memorial Scholarship Fund, Box 577, Flin Flon, Man. R8A 1N4.

Parres’ widow, Marion Dorothy “Billie” Parres, 90, resides at the Northern Lights Manor in Flin Flon. In 1995, she recieved the Order of Sancta Barbara from the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum. The award recognizes the contribution of women to the development of mining communities in Canada.
