LETTERS TO THE EDITOR — Vendors terminated option

I would like to bring your attention to an error in your Feb. 6 edition. In the “News Roundup” column on Page 3, in the story “Blue Emerald eyes yellow metal,” it is stated, in reference to the company, “. . . having opted against buying an opal project in British Columbia . . .”

I am one of the vendors of this opal property. Blue Emerald Resources did not opt against buying our property. Instead, we the vendors (myself and fellow geologist Bruce Perry) terminated the option. This was done as Blue Emerald did not meet any of its option obligations.

We made the first opal discovery in Canada that can be attributed to exploring for the gemstone. A previous opal discovery by another group was accidental and occurred during exploration for another mineral. Scott Harper
