Letters to the Editor: Stubley Made Winter Lake Belt Map

I would like to bring to your attention a minor attribution error in an article on GGL Diamond Corp.’s recent nickel assays (T.N.M. April 16-22, 2007) from the Winter Lake volcanic belt.

The map compilation mentioned in your article — the Slave Craton interpretive Bedrock Compilation — was produced by Mike Stubley of Stubley Geosciences for the Northwest Territories Geoscience Office. For readers looking for the publication, NWT-NU Open File 2005-01 is available through our office at www.nwtgeoscience.ca.

The Winter Lake belt mapping included in Stubley’s compilation was carried out between 1992-1994 by Blair Hrabi et al. and was indeed funded by the Geological Survey of Canada as a contribution to the Canada-Northwest Territories Economic Development Agreement. The final results from this work are reported in Open File 3676, available from the Geological Survey of Canada by visiting gsc.nrcan.gc.ca.

I hope this clears up a little confusion.

Scott Cairns,

Chief Geoscientist

Northwest Territories Geoscience Office
