Letters to the Editor Regrets doubts cast on company

Your Nov 30 issue contained an article on the results of an exploration program by St. Joe Gold in the Shoal Lake area of northwestern Ontario, (St. Joe has reserves on Kenora property).

While we congratulate St. Joe on its successful program, and welcome potential new mining operations in the area, I was dismayed to note the comments about the Consolidated Professor property in comparison to the St. Joe deposit. The reference to arsenopyrite and roasting left the implication that the Professor property is seriously constrained by metallurgical problems.

We have received a number of calls from shareholders expressing concern that a comparison was made to the detriment of the Consolidated Professor Duport property. I am sure this was not intended, but we feel that a certain amount of doubt has been cast on the viability of production from Duport.

There are several alternatives available for the treatment of concentrate from the Duport ore, of which roasting is only one of the possibilities. Several other processes are under serious investigation and the possibility of marketing the concentrate at a custom smelting facility remains another alternative.

These decisions will be made within the next few months. G. R. Cunningham-Dunlop President Consolidated Professor Mines
