LETTERS TO THE EDITOR New scholarship to honor Charlton

I would like to organize a scholarship honoring the late Freeder (Fred) Charlton for his time and devotion toward excellence in the field of education in the earth sciences.

Charlton was a co-founder of the Sudbury branch of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, as well as a highly respected professor at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ont.

The bursary would be presented annually at Cambrian. The bursary would be registered to be given to a second-year geology student entering his or her third year, based on the highest academic grade and/or financial need.

I challenge all former graduates and co-workers to contribute donations toward this worthy cause.

For more information, please contact the Cambrian Foundation, c/o Mrs. Karen Shaw, 62 Frood Rd., Sudbury, Ont. P3C 4Z3.

R.Y. Poulin

Val Caron, Ont.
