Letters to the Editor “My heart bleeds”

Re Juniors can’t afford red tape for speculators Jan 18:

As one of the evil speculators who “hides behind a curtain,” etc., “in and out for a killing, or to rake the markets” whenever I get a chance, my heart just bleeds for J. J. Martel, vice-president of a Quebec junior mining company, who doesn’t like the cost of pro viding additional information for unregistered shareholders, under new tse rules.

For years, some of the junior mines have been peddling moose pasture with phoney baloney, fleecing investors who then conclude that most mines have a hole in the ground with water at the bottom and a liar at the top. And a widespread abuse of flow-through funding has done nothing to dispel this image.

A market, any market, only functions efficiently and honestly with full disclosure of information; confusion and lack of information create abuses and swindles, to the detriment of the mining industry. John H. Morgan Toronto, Ont.
