I have been a reader of The Northern Miner since 1928 in Cobalt, Ont., and never thought I would ever see the day when an entire front page (T.N.M., Oct. 31/94) covered only stories of out-of-country projects.
Whatever happened to the once viable and exciting mineral exploration and development business in Canada?
Canadians used to be proud of their mining industry. Surely the detrimental, short-sighted and even ignorant and political-environmental downplay of mining exploration and development can be overcome.
The latest in British Columbia is a moratorium on staking near Grandby River, which includes two early-day staking areas currently being revived by mining companies, Franklin Camp and Lightning Peak (north of Grand Forks and east of Vernon).
