LETTERS TO THE EDITOR (June 29, 1992)

Our magazine applauds your addressing the topic of gold dumping. (T.N.M., May 11/92).

The dumping of government gold stock by the Canadian central bank, however, is not being executed to reduce federal deficits as your article assumes. Rather, we agree with Jonathan Goodman. The real reason has to do with politics — secret and hidden politics.

We would urge The Northern Miner to accept its responsibilities to expose the real reasons for this gold dumping and invite outside commentary on the issue of the true motivations for this unconscionable destruction of commodity prices in world markets. Please take a strong stand editorially and in your columns against government gold sales.
