I immediately got out my package of sundry mining certificates and found that, yes, I am a shareholder. My label on the package reads “enclosed certificates practically worthless except, perhaps, for capital loss claims”. My certificate, in excellent condition, is for 1,000 shares and is dated Feb 19, 1935.
The overall certificate is indeed decorative, even the signature of the president, W. Lamport (I believe) is a work of art.
It is my intention, as you suggested, to place it on the wall of my den, where it will serve as a reminder of a vision of wealth that did not quite materialize.
Having lived for a number of years in northern Ontario, I have an appreciation of some of the difficulties encountered and the ultimate triumphs achieved by the pioneers who mapped out and developed the mining communities as we know them today.
The certificate of Peterson Cobalt Mines also serves as a thread in the historic backround of those communities.
I am grateful for your comments and enlightening report on this company. R.N. Follett Toronto, Ont.
