As a financial analyst, I rely heavily on trade journals and magazines for information on the companies I follow but I need to know the purpose being served by the information sources I use. I was under the impression that your publication provided objective accounts on the mining industry and its firms. On further investigation of your paper, prompted by the Neptune story, I found there was little in the way of negative reports and many of the articles read like PR output from the companies themselves.
Mining stocks are investments that can provide great rewards but also encompass significant risk. This risk can be reduced by thorough research and careful analysis, both of which require publications such as yours. However, a positive bias, no matter how slight or good intentioned, is not helpful and is potentially very damaging. Guy Lapierre Yellowknife, N.W.T.
