Letter to the Editor NWT government supports Colomac

In the article entitled “Northgate loan bails out Neptune,” you stated: “Northgate emerged as Neptune’s financial backer after the federal and territorial governments decided not to back the project with an $18-million working capital loan guarantee.”

In fact, the territorial government had committed to provide $3 million of the loan guarantee. The federal government failed to provide the remaining $15 million required by Neptune.

The territorial government strongly supports this project and is pleased that Northgate is proceeding. We believe that the strong relationships that Neptune developed with the local community will ensure that the development of the mine will provide significant benefits to the north. Pierre R.
