LETTER TO THE EDITOR — Mine still producing

The story “Junior eyes rare pegmatite,” (T.N.M., May 31-June 6/99) states that “the Tanco mine in Manitoba is currently processing only tailings.” This is incorrect. We last processed tailings in 1996. Since that time, all the tantalum produced at Tanco has been mined from underground sources. We continue to do so.
