LETTER TO THE EDITOR — Haileybury history is in the works

For the past two years, I have been researching material regarding the history of the Haileybury School of Mines in northeastern Ontario. It is my intention to write a book on the history of this renowned institution.

Specifically, I am looking for stories and pictures from before the Second World War, when the mining school was part of Haileybury High School. Unfortunately, all records having to do with the mining school were lost during the high school fire on Feb. 14, 1945.

I would be honored to hear from graduates and associates of the school from those early years. Any submitted pictures would be promptly returned. Please contact me at Box 522, Haileybury, Ont. POJ IKO. Phone (705) 672-2956 or fax (705) 672-2014.
