The article “Timely proposal: a new gold standard” (T.N.M., March 7/94) is of interest to me.
My article “The Fenton formula,” published in 1984, is much better than “Timely proposal” and is practical, provable and would, in fact, work — guaranteed. It is a formula “for all seasons,” not just a proposal. Essentially, the Fenton formula shows you in detail how you can use gold to accomplish objectives. It is not a standard; “use” is the important word. It is provable through the use of models.
Obviously, such a change would be an immense undertaking. From time to time, changes would be required. Essentially, though, the thrust of the Fenton formula is sound and “right on.”
