LETTER TO THE EDITOR — Bre-X investor renounces stock market

I am so disgusted over the Bre-X Minerals fiasco that I will never buy another Canadian mining stock, and I’ve invested in them for 36 years.

I didn’t lose much on Bre-X; I bought 200 shares when there were nothing but glowing and encouraging accounts of the company everywhere, including The Northern Miner. I’ve had a few losers since I started buying mining stocks, but at least those were genuine efforts to make mines. It’s the calculation and deliberateness of the Bre-X fraud that sticks in my craw.

I have all the articles published by The Northern Miner, and before me right now is a picture of four grinning crooks at the mine site. I do not believe this fraud was, or could have been, organized by one man, and without the knowledge of David Walsh and John Felderhof.

These men should be brought to justice and made to forfeit their ill-gotten gains. I have always considered Canada a country head and shoulders above many others for its civility, decency and integrity. Bre-X should be punished for staining Canada’s reputation.
