Laverton extends Rawas gold zone in southern Sumatra

Drilling on the Rawas gold project in southern Sumatra, Indonesia, has added about 550 metres of strike potential to the Berenai vein structure.

Drilling north of the Berenai open pit, Laverton Gold (LAV-V) hit significant precious metal values over widths of 1-10 metres at depths of up to 80 metres. Results include: 9.06 grams gold and 29 grams silver per tonne over 3 metres; 5.2 grams gold and 322 grams silver over 7 metres; and 3.86 grams gold and 61 grams silver over 10 metres. The Rawas property has five open pits, of which Berenai is the largest. These contain proven and probable reserves of 3.5 million tonnes grading 3.13 grams gold and 40 grams silver per tonne. Another 4 million tonnes are contained in the resource category.

Laverton plans to begin production at a rate of 55,400 oz. gold-equivalent per year in December. Total operating costs are anticipated to be US$234 per oz. over the 7-year life of the mine.
