Laurentian drive will be led by former Inco man

Mining engineer Dr James Grassby, a former Inco executive, has been appointed executive director of a development campaign for Laurentian University, Sudbury, Ont.

Dr Grassby’s mandate will be to work with the University’s Board of Governors to “ensure that the university continues to satisfy known community needs and to identify future concerns for friends interested in investing in Laurentian’s development.”

The university’s president, Dr John Daniel, notes that recent government initiatives in the establishment of a Chair in rock mechanics and ground control at the school, and the relocation of crucial natural resource services means a springboard for development at Laurentian.
