LATIN AMERICAN ROUNDUP — COMBIOL to undergo restructuring

A contract to design a restructuring program for the Bolivian state-owned mining company COMBIOL was awarded recently to consulting firm Pinock, Allen & Holt of Colorado.

The project, funded by the World Bank, will see COMBIOL transformed into a holding company which represents the government’s interests in mining and industrial ventures. Pinock says private investors will be invited to participate as majority partners and operators of the projects. Formed in 1952 through the nationalization of major mining centres in Bolivia, COMBIOL produces minerals such as tin, silver, zinc and lead.
