Drilling on the Piedras Verdes copper-oxide project in southern Sonora, Mexico, recently encountered a new high-grade zone of copper mineralization adjacent and to the west of the Main zone.
Owner Azco Mining (TSE) has completed nine holes in the area, returning an average true width of 110 ft. grading 0.83% copper.
The high-grade zone is about 450 ft. wide, 1,500 ft. long and is open to the north as well as to the west.
The drilling was part of a second phase of definition drilling designed to determine accurate boundaries for the western area of the main Piedras deposit.
Azco has drilled a total of 60 reverse circulation holes on the property this year and plans to drill an additional 90-100 holes in the centre and east of the deposit to better define its boundaries.
