Drilling is under way on Hillsborough Resources’ (TSE) El Oro property, 115 km northwest of Mexico City.
The first hole, 93-01, averaged 4.24 grams gold per tonne and 43.4 grams silver over 9.3 metres. It was drilled to evaluate the backfill in an old stope in the San Rafael vein.
Hole 93-02, drilled 500 metres northwest along strike from hole 93-01, intersected the San Rafael vein over 29 metres. Results are expected shortly. A third hole, 270 metres northwest of hole 93-01, is being drilled. San Rafael is a 3-km-long-by-30-metre-wide oxide vein in a
north-northwest-trending fault that cuts a succession of shallowly dipping Jurassic-aged sediments.
Preliminary reserves at El Oro, including backfill and stope remnants in the Verde and San Rafael vein systems, total 14 million tonnes grading 3-6 grams gold.
