Field work last year at the Gross Rosebel concession in Suriname concentrated on two targets, the Royal Hill and Mayo zones, where 12 miles of assay trenches were cut, Golden Star Resources (TSE) reports.
The company says channel sampling and systematic deep augering yielded 11,000 samples to a depth of 50 ft.
As well, Golden Star tested the newly discovered Roma zone between the Royal Hill and Mayo zones and constructed an access road to the Koolhaven zone. The company is also undertaking a reconnaissance program on its Headley’s Reef Right of Reconnaissance which surrounds the Gross Rosebel concession. Golden Star, which has arranged a private placement worth up to $11.1 million with two securities firms and is negotiating another private placement worth up to $640,000 with institutional investors in Suriname, says it has two drill rigs at work at Gross Rosebel.
