LATIN AMERICA ROUNDUP — Campbell budgets extra San Luis

Initial drill results from a program at the San Luis gold property in Sonora, Mexico, indicate the presence of at least two near-surface zones of mineralization, potentially minable by open pit, with a strike length exceeding 3,000 ft., Campbell Resources (TSE) reports.

The company completed a 10-hole program representing 1,900 ft. Planned is a second-phase program of drilling and survey work; the company has allocated an additional $500,000 to its original $900,000 Mexican exploration budget for 1992.

At San Luis, Campbell operates a pilot-scale, open pit mine with a metallurgical test plant on site from which the company expects to recover 3,500 oz. gold during 1992 by mining about 6,000 tons at an average grade of 0.7 oz. gold per ton.
