LATIN AMERICA — Outokumpu Copper Resources reports.

The company, part of Outokumpu group of Finland, recently received a feasibility study for the project from engineering firm Fluor Daniel Wright. The study estimates total reserves of 556 million tonnes grading 0.62% copper, including “minable” reserves of 235 million tonnes grading 0.9% copper in both oxide and sulphide form. Additional oxide reserves may be present.

Envisaged is an open pit mine employing solvent extraction-electrowinning and traditional concentrator facilities. Fluor foresees a 15-year operation possibly supporting average annual production of copper cathodes and copper-in-concentrate at about 85,000 tonnes and 37,000 tonnes, respectively.
