Latest Verneuil drilling returns lower gold values

Drilling at the Verneuil Twp. gold property of Golden Tag Resources (VSE) and Consolidated Gold Hawk Resources (ASE) in northwestern Quebec intersected the shear zone in almost every hole targeted in the structure.

However, widths and gold values were lower compared with the previous program.

The best hole of the recent program was No. 32, which returned 8.4 ft. of 0.26 oz. gold per ton and 10 ft. of 0.15 oz.

None of the holes drilled to test an induced polarization anomaly to the south of Hole 21 returned values, and Hole 25 (above the hangingwall) cut eight feet of 0.29 oz.

The operator, Freewest Resources (TSE), says the program succeeded in narrowing focus, in the Toussaint zone, to an area directly below the original surface discovery. The zone remains open at depth.

Freewest is earning a 50% interest in the property by spending $500,000 on exploration. (Golden Tag has 60% of the property and Gold Hawk, 40%.) Freewest is continuing with additional surface exploration on claims jointly owned by itself and Golden Tag. Linecutting and prospecting are under way on claims south of the discovery area.

Golden Tag has been exploring its wholly owned, 44-claim Verneuil Twp. property, southwest of the discovery. The junior has acquired, by staking, 76 claims in Tonnancourt Twp. which border the 44-claim property. Subject to regulatory approval, Golden Tag is acquiring an additional six claims in Verneuil Twp. where an anomaly, possibly hosting kimberlite, has been identified by air surveying. A similar anomaly has been identified in the same township, on claims jointly owned by Golden Tag and Freewest.
